Before you vacuum bag, seal the holes for an airtight setup.

Thin fiberglass + 105/206 + 406 = strong backing plates.
✔️ Wet out the surface
✔️ Add thickened epoxy with 406
✔️ Coat both sides for a tight seal

This keeps air where it belongs: inside the bag (not your laminate!)

Accurate epoxy starts with one thing: a full, smooth pump stroke.

To avoid off-ratio mixes with WEST SYSTEM® Mini Pumps:
❌ Don’t use epoxy from an interrupted stream
❌ Don’t pull up on pump heads
❌ Don’t rapid-fire pump

👉 Strong mix = strong cure.

Strong bonds start with clean surfaces.

Before bonding the new stringer:
✔️ Clean with a degreaser to remove oil & grease
✔️ Wipe until the towel comes up clean
✔️ Follow with acetone or lacquer thinner in bilges & engine areas
⚠️ Always clean before grinding (don’t grind contaminants in!)

👉 Watch the full stringer replacement video on YouTube for the complete process! Search "From Rot to Rock Solid: Replacing Rotted Boat Stringers using WEST SYSTEM® Epoxy" or use the link in our bio. 🔗

When performing structural fiberglass repairs on your boat, matching the original laminate thickness is key to restoring the strength the designer intended.
👇

This simple measuring step removes the guesswork and ensures your repair is structural, not just cosmetic. See the full stringer repair video on YouTube for the complete process!
